Died on March 17, 2021. Having lived and ministered as a Benedictine Sister of St. Paul’s Monastery for 67 years, Sister Mary Joanne served as an educator at the following places: St. Bernard’s, St. Paul; Immaculate Heart of Mary, St. Paul; St. Anne’s, Minneapolis; St. Boniface, St. Bonifacius. She also served as a pastoral minister at her home parish of Holy Redeemer, Montgomery. Preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Ann (Bilek); brother, John. Survived by her Benedictine Sisters and cousins. Due to COVID-19, service restricted to the members of the Monastic community. Service of Christian Burial will be available by live stream on St. Paul’s Monastery website (www.stpaulsmonastery.org) Monday, March 22, 2021 at 11:00 am. Interment at Monastery cemetery. Memorials preferred to St. Paul’s Monastery. We express our gratitude to the staff of St. John’s Hospital for the care provided to Sister Mary Joanne in her final days.
