Obituary

SPRINGFIELD – Eileen (O’Sullivan) Curran, 79, of the Hungry Hill section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, March 14, 2021. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Castleisland, County Kerry, Ireland on November 20, 1941, a beloved daughter of the late Denis O’Sullivan and Hannah (Horan) O’Sullivan. She immigrated to the United States in September of 1958 and settled on Broadway Street in the Winter Hill section of Somerville, Massachusetts. She later moved to Hungry Hill in Springfield in 1972 where she lived the remainder of her life. She was a communicant of the former Our Lady of Hope Church and upon its closing became a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, both in Springfield. She was last employed at the former K & M Electronics Company in West Springfield. Eileen was very proud of her Irish Heritage, enjoyed listening to Irish music at the John Boyle O’Reilly Club in Springfield and was known for her “Award Winning” Irish Soda Bread. Most of all, she was a loving woman who adored her family and her many friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, William F. Curran who was Called Home on August 31, 2019. They were married on January 2, 1972 in Somerville, MA and were blessed with over 47 years of happiness. She leaves her three loving children, Patricia A. Clark and her husband, Edward, of Longmeadow, Sean F. Curran of Springfield and Kevin J. Curran and his wife, Kathleen, of Fairfield, CT; her four cherished grandchildren whom she adored, Ryan and Colleen Clark, and Liam and Declan Curran; her seven dear sisters, Bernadette Brosnan and her husband, Brian, of Castleisland, County Kerry, Ireland, Teresa O’Sullivan and Catherine O’Brien and her husband, Patrick, all of West Roxbury, Joan Finn and her husband, Christopher, of Norfolk, Mary Finn and her husband, John, of Dover, Elizabeth McKinney and her husband, Joseph, and Anne Creedon and her husband, Conor, all of Milton; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, numerous friends and extended family members in the United States and Ireland. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her two dear brothers, Patrick and Denis O’Sullivan. Her relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, March 20, 2021 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, which will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104. Her burial will follow the Mass at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Road, Springfield, MA 01129.
