Obituary

December 7, 1944 - March 14, 2021

Paula M. Quigley, 76, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at home with her family. She was the daughter of Paul R. Erickson, Florence M. (Skell) and Francisco Tavares, Jr. Born in Spartanburg, S.C. and raised in Fall River, she attended Mount Saint Mary Academy and Saint Anne’s Hospital School of Nursing, both in Fall River, MA. Throughout her career as a registered nurse, she worked in several local nursing homes where she was always caring, kind and compassionate to her patients. Her empathetic, logical nature and attention to detail made her a great nurse. In addition to nursing, she worked for several years as an educator and trainer of Certified Nurses Aides. She was a born teacher, wonderful listener and exuded patience in all she did. Paula loved her grandchildren and had a way with children; she spent countless hours playing with and reading to them. Her grandchildren Noah, Owen, Aidan, Clara and Hazel will always remember their Nannie/Nonnie for her gentle and loving ways. Paula was a thinking and spiritual person. She enjoyed reading, sunsets and the beach, learning about different religions and interpreting and discussing astrology. She was a dedicated Catholic. She leaves behind her loving family: devoted sisters Frances St. Amour and Patricia Tavares; brother-in-law, Bert Wilkinson; her son Douglas Quigley; her daughters Lisa Quigley and Erin Coroa; and sons-in-law Douglas Mello and Joshua Coroa. She is predeceased by the father of her children, George E. Quigley. She will be incredibly missed by everyone, including: her nephews Lyle and Colin Cabral; nieces Jill and Olivia Cabral; and her two loyal best friends, Jean McDonald and Suzanne Baker.

Arrangements are private.

Donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital for Children, 501 St. Jude Place., Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
