Robert ‘Bob’ Bagdasarian, 87, of Wellesley passed away peacefully on March 11th 2021 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital.
Bob was born in Manchester, New Hampshire on July 30th 1933 to Armen and Samson Bagdasarian. After Bob’s father passed away at a young age, he worked tirelessly to help support his mother and three sisters at the family grocery store.
Bob attended Syracuse University as an Air Force ROTC student and graduated in 1955; he ultimately went on to complete his master’s degree in econometrics. After finishing school, Bob went on to serve as 1st Lt. in the U.S. Air Force. He married Nancy Lee Derderian in the fall of 1961, had a successful career at IBM before moving to Wellesley, Massachusetts to work for the family business.
After moving to Wellesley, Bob helped raise two daughters and five grandchildren whom he was extremely proud of his entire life. He became a beloved member of his community and neighborhood, a member of the Wellesley Country Club (and a proud winner of the annual Adam’s Bowl Golf Tournament) and was an active participant and longtime member of the Council of Armenian Executives.
You could often find Bob caring for his garden, playing backgammon, fishing, golfing and spending as much time as possible with his family. Bob was known for his immense integrity, fierce loyalty, and ability to face life with the utmost dignity. His family will remember Bob’s intense love for them and his kind nature to everyone with whom he came in contact.
Bob is survived by his wife Nancy of 60 years; three sisters, Roxanne Sartorius, Sylvia Markcrow and Carol Aslanian; two daughters, Lee Rech and Nancy Merrill; and five grandchildren, Zachary Merrill, Charly Rech, Amelia Merrill, Louise Rech and Andy Merrill.
Bob will be dearly missed by all who loved him. A private family service will be held at Mt. Auburn Cemetery.
