Obituary

Hall - Of Marshfield, March 19. Stephen V. Beloved husband of Bella (Danzig) Hall, dear father of Jacqueline Wood of Auburn NH, Michele Armour of West Falmouth and the late Robert Hall, also survived by 2 grandchildren Stephen and Marc Wood, 4 great grandchildren Emma, Jessica, Monique and Alexis and his sister Barbara Coffin of Maine. Son of the late Lincoln and Helen Hall and brother of the late John Hall.
A Funeral Service will be held at the First Congregational Church, 1981 Ocean St., Rte 139, Marshfield, Friday, March 24 at 11:00 am. Relatives and friends are invited.
Interment will be in the Winslow Cemetery Marshfield.

Stephen V. Hall of Marshfield, Massachusetts died at home on March 19, 2006 after a long illness.
Stephen was born in 1922 in Burlington Vermont. He was a World War II veteran, serving overseas, where he met and married his wife Bella in Paris in 1946. They would have celebrated their 60th anniversary in June. Stephen spoke French fluently and enjoyed many return trips to Paris with Bella as well as world travels in his retirement.
Stephen was a retired stockbroker with Smith Barney Harris Upham in Boston. After retiring he and Bella owned and operated a business on Newbury Street in Boston, Pronuptia Bridals, Inc. for fifteen years.
A longtime resident of Marshfield, as a young boy Stephen lived in the Daniel Webster Estate with his parents and grandparents. In later life Stephen became active in efforts to preserve the Daniel Webster estate and was an advisor to the restoration project. As well, Stephen was a Webster historian, donated artifacts to the Webster Law Library and wrote a colorful weekly column about Webster in the Marshfield Mariner.
Stephen was an avid stamp collector since his youth and through his lifetime assembled a world-class international stamp collection.
Stephen was a lover of animals and nature and a conservationist. He arranged for the beautiful family land in Marshfield to be protected and preserved by the Wildlands Trust and was awarded by the Trust for his vision and persistence in achieving this goal.
