Obituary

NO.OXFORD: Virginia C. (Szczepaniak) Escolas, 86, of No. Oxford, died Wednesday, March 3 in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester, after being stricken ill at home.
She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a proud and adoring grandmother and great-grandmother.
Her husband of 66 years, Richard A. Escolas, Sr, died October 26, 2020. She leaves her sons Richard J. Escolas, Jr. and his wife Maureen of No. Oxford and James P. Escolas and his significant other, Dorothy Deary of No. Oxford; her daughters, Joyce A. Williamson, of Spencer, and Karen M. Escolas, of Athens, NY; her sister Patricia Parslow and her husband Richard, of Webster; 9 grandchildren 10 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her grandson Mark Williamson, her brother Anthony Szczepaniak, and her sister Florence Reich.
Virginia worked at the former Millbrook Distributors in Leicester for more than 10 years, prior to retiring in the late 90s. She was known there as the candy lady by her coworkers. Virginia served as a Cub Scout den mother in the 1960s with her sons' troop. Her children and grandchildren enjoyed wearing handmade Halloween costumes, and hanging handmade stockings at Christmas.
Born in Dudley, she was the daughter of John and Catherine (Piechowiak) Szczepaniak. She was a member of St. Ann's Parish in Oxford.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. in St. Ann's Church, 654 Main St., No.Oxford on Saturday, March 13th., Covid-19 precautions, masks and social distancing must be observed.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Ann's Church.
The MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester, is assisting the family with arrangements.
