Obituary

SANFORD- Leeland Roy Grant, 62, of Sanford, Maine, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2021 at his home after a brief battle with leukemia. Born at Goodall Hospital in Sanford, Maine, he was raised in South Berwick, the son of Raymond and Marion (Burbank) Grant.
Lee was a graduate of Marshwood High School and went to trade school to become a carpenter, a work he did for over 40 years and loved. He built and finished many houses and even worked on the Nubble Lighthouse. He was a very hard worker and if any of his family or friends needed a hand with something – moving, fixing something, you name it, he was always there to help. He always got up early and stayed up late. He was known for saying, “If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.”
A devoted family man, he often came home from work and played with his kids. No matter how tired he was, he always made time for his family. He loved teaching his kids about all things, even taking them to work with him on occasion.
Lee enjoyed many activities, including fishing, camping, playing pool, roller coasters, bowling, golf, soccer, and puzzles. He loved playing and watching football. He enjoyed watching the New England Patriots for the last 20 years, especially that Super Bowl LI comeback.
He was married to his wife, Rhonda, for 32 years. Lee especially loved his wife’s cooking. They share many special memories. Lee loved his family and enjoyed having them all together be it at the lake, for a cookout, or for family pizza night. His children cherish many memories with him. He loved his six grandchildren very much and was looking forward to the birth of a grandson due in April. He was a loving husband, brother, son, father and grandpa.
A man of strong faith, he was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses along with his wife in 1991. A dedicated member of the Springvale, Maine Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Lee’s strong faith in Bible promises helped him keep a positive outlook about his illness and the hope for future blessings. Revelation 21: 3,4
Lee is survived by his wife, Rhonda, his children Jennifer, Michaela and husband David, son Christopher and wife Hanna, daughter Gabrielle, son Gideon and wife Emilee, as well as six grandchildren – Lilly, Lydia, Charlotte, Braden, Evynnlee, Benjamin, and Callum (due in April). Also surviving are his brother Lin and wife Marianne. Lee was predeceased by his father Raymond, mother Marion, and younger sister Vicki.
The family would like to express heartfelt appreciation for Dr. Jason Moran, Kerri Townsend NP, and the Oncology team at the Maine Health Cancer Care Center. A virtual service by invitation will be held in the coming weeks with a private family burial in the spring.
