On Saturday February 27th, Kenneth Leslie Hays, 76, died peacefully at home in Manchester, MA, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born in Brookline, MA, on September 7, 1944 to Warren and Sofia (Burley) Hays. He and his brother Geoffrey were raised in Quincy, MA. Ken attended Derby Academy and Thayer Academy and graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology with a degree in Industrial Engineering. After working locally for Canada Dry he relocated to San Juan, Puerto Rico, where he was employed by General Electric. Upon his return to the Boston area he and his wife Ronna opened Adam ’s Apple stores in Rockport and Cambridge. Upon retirement he spent winters in Jamaica where he had many friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Warren and Sofia, and his brother Geoffrey. He is survived by his children Adam David Hays, Joshua Hammond Hays and his partner Amy Rieff, Wendy Ramsey and her husband Robert, Brandon Noble, James Marcucci and his wife Vivian Vaudreuil ; his former wife Ronna Hammond Resnick, his sister-in-law Maureen Hays, a niece and two nephews and many grandchildren. He also leaves his wonderful cousins Bonnie, Buzz, Petesa and Boo. Ken held dear his precious cat Amber.
Ken was one of a kind and wherever he is now, we all know there is a party and he is creating havoc.
