Vety W. Strimitis, Sr., 91, passed away Monday, March 20 at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Bondarek) Strimitis and his son, Vety W. “Bill” Strimitis, Jr. A lifelong resident of Stoughton, he was a graduate of Bentley College. He worked for a local oil company for many years and retired in the late 1970’s from the Ward Steel Co., National Steel Service Center in Randolph. A skilled wood worker and avid wooden boat builder and boater, Mr. Strimitis was a longtime member of the Dorchester Yacht Club.
Mr. Strimitis is survived by his sister, Pauline McKay, age 96, and her daughter, Nancy Miller and family all of Amherst; a daughter-in-law Elizabeth “Betty” (Randall) Strimitis of Halifax and a granddaughter, Jennifer Strimitis Mendell of Rochester. He was also a longtime and dear friend of Albina Smith of Stoughton.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday, March 24 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton 9 AM. Visiting Hours omitted. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Stoughton.
