Obituary

TRUDEL, Raymond M. , 85 , of Stoughton, died on Tuesday July 16,2002 at the Copley at Stoughton Nursing Center after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Albertine D. (Ducharme).

Born in Holyoke,MA. He was a son of the late Joseph I. and Lucia O. (Lavallee) Trudel.He graduated from Northeastern School of Law in 1940.

From 1942 to 1945 he served with the U.S. Army Air Transport Command . As a Tech Sgt. He was assigned as an Aviation Instructor at a flight school in Missouri.

Mr. Trudel had been a resident of Stoughton since 1972, coming from Boston.

He was a past member of the Montague Grange. He served as Montague selectman from 1950 to 1962. He was past President of the MA State Selectmans Association. From 1948 to 1965 he had a General Law practice in Turners Falls,MA. He was also past President and one of the original founders of the MA. League of Cities and Towns.

Mr. Trudel served as a Judge for the MA Industrial Accident Board for over 20 years. He lectured on Municipal Government at various MA Colleges and Universities. He was a former MA State President of the Franco-American Civic League. In 1948 he was appointed as a member of the U.S. Selective Service Board of Franklin County,MA. He served as a Legislative Secretary for the late MA Governor John A. Volpe, attending to duties in Washington,D.C. Mr. Trudel was also a Chief Financial Officer for the Montague Fire District for over 20 years. He was past First Vice President of the International Association of Industrial Accident Boards and Commissions.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Lorraine E. Flynn of Winchendon,MA and Maggie Y. Trudel of Braintree,MA; two sons, Paul G. Trudel and his wife Jean of Hixson,TN and Robert J. Trudel and his wife Thanh Vu of Arlington,VA. ;one brother Gerald E. Trudel of Stoneybrook, NY, he was also brother to the late Paul A. Trudel of Greenfield,MA.

His funeral mass will be at 10:15 A.M. on Monday July 22,2002 from the Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton Street Stoughton; followed by burial in St. Anne Cemetery in Montague,MA at 2:00 P.M.

Visiting hours are Sunday July 21,2002 from 7-9 P.M. in the funeral home.
