Obituary


Carmela ‘Millie’ Slattery passed away Sunday, February 28th at Seashore Pointe Wellness and Rehabilitation Center in Provincetown. She was 90.

Born in Ozone Park, NY, one of five sisters, she was the daughter of the late Giovannina and Aniello Prevete. In high school, she was a star athlete. She lettered in basketball, volleyball softball and badminton. After graduation, she went to work for New York Telephone. Her entire 33-year career was spent with the telephone company, in many different supervisory positions over the years. At the end of her career, she retired from Verizon in 1984!

She moved from her home in Yorktown Heights, NY to Provincetown in 2011, to be near her daughter Judy Ann, who owned and operated Wampum etc., a jewelry store on Commercial Street.

In Provincetown, she made many friends, was a passionate Bridge player and was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Parish.

In addition to her daughter Judy Ann Slattery of Provincetown, she is survived by two sisters, Louise Ann Decker and Antionette Bruno, along with many nieces, nephews, their families and friends. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday June 8th at St. Peter the Apostle Church, 11 Prince Street, Provincetown. Burial will follow in St. Peters Cemetery. All Covid protocols in place at that time will be observed.

If desired, Memorial donations in Carmela’s name may be made to St. Peter the Apostle Church, 11 Prince Street, Provincetown.
