Obituary

LEICESTER: Donald T. "Don" Brown of Leicester, passed away after a short illness on Thursday, February 25th. at the age of 77, surrounded by his family. He leaves his wife, Michelle M. (Valois) Brown of Leicester, his two daughters, Tracy Arsenault and her husband Brian of Leicester, and Katrina Thompson and her husband Stephen of Uxbridge. He also adored his two granddaughters, Erin Arsenault and Abigail Thompson and his grandson, Joshua Thompson. He leaves several nieces and nephews. His first wife, Shirley (Palmerino) Brown predeceased him in 2008.

He was born in Worcester, son of the late Charles L. and Susan M. (Ryan) Brown and moved to Leicester at a young age, where he spent the rest of his life. He was a graduate of Leicester High School and joined the US Army, where he specialized in construction with the Army Corps of Engineers in Vietnam. After the Army, Don worked for the Postal Service for over 35 years. First as a letter carrier in his hometown for many years and spent the last 10 years of his career as a mail processing equipment technician before retiring in 1997. While working for the USPS, Don also became a certified OSHA inspector and helped train many postal equipment technicians. Don also served as the Director of Civil Defense for the Town of Leicester for many years, was a licensed EMT, and member of the Leicester Fire Department in the 1970's and 1980's.

Don enjoyed many activities, including painting, studying history, riding his motorcycle, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren. He was an active amateur radio operator and enjoyed talking with people around the world. A handyman and constant tinkerer, Don enjoyed fixing things around the house and doing small engine repair. Don also loved animals, especially his dog, Roxie.

Memorial calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 4th, in the MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St.,Leicester from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Covid-19 precautions, social distancing and face masks must be observed. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden St, Worcester, MA, 01606.
