Obituary

Beatrice Theresa (Abreu) Miguel, affectionately known as ‘Bea’ passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Sunny Acres Nursing Home after a brief illness. She had recently celebrated her 100th birthday. She was the beloved widow of the late Joseph A. Miguel who passed away in 1986 after forty one years of marriage.

A daughter of the late John Francisco Abreu and the late Beatrice (Jardin) Abreu, she was born January 17, 1921 in Lowell and was educated in the local schools, graduating from Lowell High School.

Bea made her home in Chelmsford for more than forty years, and was a member of the former St. Peter’s Parish and a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church. She had a love of music and was a member of St. Anthony’s Choir and enjoyed concerts and operas. She also loved dancing and sewing. Most importantly, she loved time spent with family.

She worked as a store manager at Enterprise Department Store in Lowell for many years before she returned to her home to raise her family, working part time.

Her survivors include her daughters, Bonita M. Miguel-Kinney and her husband, Stephen Kinney, of North Chelmsford and Diane M. Swift of Chelmsford; her grandsons, Matthew S. Miguel of New York and Abraham Conlon of Chicago, IL; her sister, Dolores Dahlgren of Chelmsford; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also a sister of the late Mary Ninteau and the late Agnes Paquette.

While following social distancing guidelines and wearing a mask, all are invited to her memorial visitation on Tuesday, March 2 from 9 until 10 a.m. at the MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816. Due to covid-19 restrictions, her funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church and burial in St. Patrick Cemetery will be held privately.
