Obituary

“Tuesday afternoon… I’m just beginning to see…..chasing the clouds away…..those gentle voices I hear….. Tuesday……”
Indeed Tuesday was Dennis’s Lauzon’s day. In the immortal lyrics of the song “Tuesday Afternoon” by the Moody Blues, Dennis Lauzon stepped into immortality on a Tuesday.
Dennis A. Lauzon, 65, of Woonsocket died peacefully on Tuesday February 23, 2021 at home with his beloved wife Martha at his side.
Dennis was the loving husband of Martha Jane (Nelson) Lauzon. Dennis and Martha met at work and soon after started together as a couple. They were married on November 10, 1984. All totaled Dennis and Martha shared almost 40 years together.
Born in Woonsocket and raised in Blackstone, Dennis was a son of the late Aime and Shirley (Longtin) Lauzon. He grew up on Canal Street in Blackstone and lived for several years in Milford before returning to Woonsocket. Losing his dad at a young age made Dennis grow up quickly. He took on the responsibility of working in his late teens starting as a store clerk in Blackstone, then working for a moving company and later at a foundry in Woonsocket. Dennis would spend his career with Waters Corporation in Milford for over 42 years at an Informational Technology Platform Engineer before recent health challenges forced him to retire. Dennis was an instrumental employee in the quality control division and was involved in the implementation of writing computer software for various applications as computer technology came into use in the workplace. At home Dennis was a complete computer expert, his knowledge gained over many, many years of working with computers as they came into everyday use in our lives. He even owned one of the very first generation Apple home computers and kept it as a souvenir.
The music of the Moody Blues was absolutely the soundtrack of Dennis’s life.
Dennis pursued many interests and hobbies throughout his life including but not limited to astronomy, technology, music, photography, weather forecasting and instrumentation.
A man of many varied interests and talents Dennis was a musician at heart. Playing his guitar with his band and absorbing all the energy that live music generates was the juice that charged his batteries. Dennis was an avid amateur radio operator since the late 1980s under the call sign KD1CA. He attained his Extra Class Lisc. (the highest level an amateur radio operator can achieve) and was a member of an amateur radio group and was part of a weather monitoring site. As his latest passion was flying his drone, Dennis was much loved member of the Rhode Island Drone Meet-up group. He had an innate ability to disassemble, repair and reassemble almost anything mechanical or electrical. He also was a licensed locksmith.
Other interests included family history and genealogy. Tracing both his and his wife Martha’s ancestry through extensive historical research led him to find roots to a castle in Northumberland, England. The castle is open to people of Featherston heritage. When Dennis was on a quest there was no stopping him!
Dennis will be remembered as a friendly and outgoing fellow who loved to explore and be intrigued by the many people, places and things he encounter along his life’s journey. Living life, loving his family and rocking to the memorable sounds of his generation was how Dennis Lauzon rolled along. Though his 65 years may seem cut short, Dennis packed all he could into his time with us and left a lasting legacy of love and friendship.
In addition to his beloved wife Martha, Dennis is survived by a son Steven A. Lauzon of Minnesota and a daughter Christina Rose Lauzon of New Bedford. He was the brother of Donna Lauzon of California, Peter Lauzon of Texas, Mark Lauzon of Maine and Michael Lauzon of Woonsocket. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and extended family.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Dennis’s remarkable life at visiting hours in the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave. Woonsocket on Wednesday March 3rd from 4-7 pm and again starting at 10:00am on Thursday March 4th with a service to follow in the funeral home at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Blackstone.
