Obituary

Dennis "Bana" Rose, 69, of New Bedford, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday February 24, 2021.

He was the husband of Jacqueline A. (Fortes) Rose.

Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Antone "Clipper" and Amelia "Nana" (Grace) Rose. He lived in New Bedford all of his life and is survived by 6 of his siblings, Bruce Rose and his wife Cynthia of Dartmouth, Eleanor Lovejoy of Boston, Glenn Silva of Shirley, Latisha Silva of New Bedford, Kim Berger and her husband Scott of Dartmouth and Tracy Rose of New Bedford; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.

He was a graduate of the New Bedford High School Class of 1970, and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Business Management and Accounting from Umass Dartmouth in 1996.

Dennis loved his life. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, they lit up his world. He enjoyed traveling to Martha's Vineyard and was an avid New England sports fan. He loved everything Celtics, Patriots, and Red Sox. But what he liked most about sports was watching with his boys. Dennis found joy in many things but most of all he enjoyed every minute spent with his wife Jacquie of whom he shared 37 years of marriage and over 60 years of friendship.

Survivors include his wife Jacquie; his children Tara Davis and her husband Jay Sparling of Jefferson, MA, Ryan Rose and his girlfriend Amanda Miller of New Bedford, and Eric Rose and his wife Katie Rose of New Bedford; and his 5 beautiful grandchildren, Alyssa, Scott, Akayliah, Arianna and Phoenix who will remember him fondly.

He is welcomed into heaven by his siblings, Antone Rose, Glenn Rose, Colleen Silva, and his precious granddaughter Felicity J. Rose.

His visiting hours will be Monday, March 1st from 4-7PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Due to restrictions on public gatherings, his funeral mass and burial will be private.

Please be advised that due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there are strict guidelines that must be adhered to for the safety of everyone. You MUST wear a mask to be allowed entry to the services. Please practice social distancing and avoid any close contact. Guests will be permitted to pay their respects and depart to allow the next guests to enter. Capacity at the funeral home will be limited so there could be wait times outside the funeral home. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
