Obituary

Shirley LaValley, 86, formerly of Thorpe Street, Greenville, died Thursday, February 25, 2021 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease at Greenville Skilled Nursing in Smithfield. She was the wife of Leo L. LaValley, who died on December 24th, 2020. They had been married for 64 years.

Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late James and Helen (Ballou) Feeley. She had lived in Greenville for the past 47 years.

Shirley enjoyed her time working at the Allendale Insurance Café in Johnston, RI.

Shirley loved going to the beach, shopping, and spending time with loved ones. She was a proud Irish woman, and her favorite day was St. Patrick’s Day. She was quick witted and had a great sense of humor. She was always telling her children and grandchildren clever one liners and wisdom that will be passed on for years.

She is survived by a daughter, Susan Chiovitti and her husband, Angelo of Harrisville, a son Lee LaValley of Scituate, her four grandchildren: Justin Chiovitti of Orange County, CA, Daniel Chiovitti of Harrisville, Krystal LaValley of Wilmington, MA and Lee LaValley Jr., of Scituate.

Shirley was also a proud Great Grandmother of Valen Acciacca and Blake Chiovitti. She was also a loving mother of the late Coleen Cardarelli and loving sister of the late Roy Feeley, Helen Pincins, Barbara Sharkey, John Feeley.

Her funeral will be held Monday at 9am from the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 10am in St. Joseph Church, Danielson Pike at the Corner of Rt 116, Scituate. Due to COVID regulations, seating is limited. Face Masks and social distancing is required. Burial will be private.
