SOUTH HIRAM- Ronald G. Oberg, age 84, passed away on February 22, 2021. He was born in Bridgton, Maine on April 18, 1936 and attended the University of Maine -Orono where he obtained a Master's degree in teaching. Ron achieved the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army. He taught mathematics at Sacopee Valley High School for many years.
Ron married the love of his life, Marilyn, in 1975, who preceded him in death. He loved his home, garden and especially playing golf with his friends. One of Ron and Marilyn's favorite pastimes was to take a Sunday drive, often ending up with ice cream.
Ron is survived by his stepdaughters: Kimberly Oricchio, Karen Stripp and Kellie Smith; his niece, Karen Oberg, his nephews; Peter and Stephen Oberg and Eric, Nathan and Douglas Braddock and his 6 grandchildren.
We are so grateful to all who visited, sent cards and cared for Ron in his later years.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday March 6 from 1 – 4 PM at the Poitras, Neal & York Funeral Home, 71 Maple St., Cornish. Please be mindful of COVID restrictions including distancing and mask wearing. A private graveside service for the family will be held in Bridgton.
