Obituary

CHICOPEE - Jeannine M. (Deslauriers) Duquette, 65, of the Ferry Lane section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, February 21, 2021. She unexpectedly passed into Eternal Life surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Springfield on May 25, 1955, a daughter of the late Armand and Marie (Caron) Deslauriers. She was raised in Springfield, graduated from Cathedral High School in 1973 and moved to Chicopee in 1975. She was employed as a Secretary for nine years at Woodland School in Southwick and was previously employed for over 20 years at Atlas-Copco. She was a communicant at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Chicopee where she was a member of the Ladies of Saint Anne Sodality. During her leisure time, she enjoyed decorating cakes, hosting parties, and cooking Sunday dinners for her family. She loved spending time outdoors observing nature, taking long walks and was a member of the Templeton Fish and Game Club where she enjoyed her summers at the family camp. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and her many friends. She leaves her beloved husband and soul mate, Robert L. "Duke" Duquette. They were married on May 10, 1975 at the former Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Springfield and were blessed with over 45 years of happiness together. She also leaves her four loving children, Renée Aubé and her husband, Steve, of West Suffield, CT, André Duquette and his wife, Dawn, of South Hadley and Noëlle Duquette and Monique Duquette, both of Chicopee; her five cherished grandchildren, Austin, Ava and Alex Aubé and Quinton and Devin Duquette; her five dear siblings, Gerard Deslauriers and his wife, Linda, of Southwick, Robert Deslauriers of West Springfield, Therese Patterson and her husband, Matthew, of Shafter, CA, Armand Deslauriers and his wife, Michelle, of Ludlow and Marie Santos and her husband, Michael, of Wilbraham; her dear brother-in-law, Donald Duquette and his wife, Maureen, of Chicopee; her dear sister-in-law, Linda Duquette of Springfield; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, numerous friends and extended members of the Duquette and Deslauriers families. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her dear sister-in-law, Carol Deslauriers and her dear brother-in-law, Roger P. Duquette. Her Funeral will be held on Saturday morning, February 27, 2021 beginning at the St. Pierre - Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 7:45 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 94 Springfield Street, Chicopee, MA 01013. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home for a WALK-THRU Visitation on Friday, February 26, 2021 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Please note that masks are required, social distancing must be observed and funeral home, Church and cemetery capacity are limited due to state regulations.
