Halmar W. Freden
Centurion, Halmar "Bill" Freden, age 101, of Marshfield passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2006.
Born in Brockton, he came to Humarock in the mid 20's , residing in "Seaview" with his loving wife Ruth of 72 years.
Bill was an Advertising Executive in Theatrical Management for the Boston Record/Herald American for 38 years.
He established the William Freden & Son's Tennis Court Construction where he constructed and resurfaced clay tennis courts throughout the South Shore for over 45 years. He owned "Bill's Tennis Shop" in North Scituate where he strung rackets for athletic enterprises such as W.H. Brines and Collegiate House in Boston. He also taught tennis in Humarock, MA. He loved to play badminton, cultivate vegetables in his seasonal garden and dance to the "Big Band" music throughout the 20's and 30's across the South Shore and Rhode Island with his wife Ruth.
He is survived by five children, William "Ray" Freden, Bruce "Swede" Freden, both of Marshfield, Wayne H. Freden of Kasilof, Alaska, Deborah R. (Freden) Crowe of Key West , Florida, and Judith A. Freden of Middleboro, MA.: four grandchildren , and identical twin " great " grandson's.
He was the grandfather to the late Eric Freden.
A private family service will be held April 2006.
