Obituary

Dr. B.A. “Gus” Wentz, 71, of Sandy Springs, South Carolina (Formerly of Fitzgerald), died July 15, 2004 at Anderson Area Medical Center in Anderson, South Carolina.

Memorial services will be held 10 A.M., Graveside, Saturday, March 25 at Evergreen Cemetery.

Dr. Wentz was born November 16, 1932, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Herman R. and Marietta Bennett Wentz. He was a 1950 graduate of Fitzgerald High School, the University of Georgia, Duke University and Columbia Pacific University. Dr. Wentz was a retired college professor from Tri County Technical College in Pendleton, South Carolina. He taught school at Irwin County High School, Delta State College in Cleveland, Mississippi, St. Johns River College, Palatka, FL, John F. Kennedy College in Wahoo, NE, and Wilson Technical College in Wilson, NC. Dr. Wentz has published various books and several volumes of poetry. Dr. Wentz served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War Era. He was of the Catholic faith.

He is survived by his wife: Patricia G. Wentz of Sandy Springs, SC; daughters and sons-in-law: Mary Ann & Tony White of Clemson and Susan & Mitch Gibbs of Marietta; son: John Wentz of Philadelphia, PA; 4 grandsons; sister & brother-in-law: Geneva & James Sowell of Fitzgerald.
