Jacqueline C. "Jackie" (D'Angelo) Nunes, age 77, of Winthrop, died peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, after a lengthy illness, on February 18, 2021. She was the beloved wife of Walter E. Nunes, the love of her life, they were together for 64 years and married for 57 years. Born in East Boston, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Margaret (Grifoni) D’Angelo.
Jackie attended schools in East Boston and graduated from East Boston High School, Class of 1961. She was employed as a clerk for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Revenue for 17 years. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, and loved spending and nurturing her family. She also enjoyed scratch tickets, soap operas and afternoon tea with her friends after Days of Our Lives.
In addition to her husband she is survived by three sons Walter and his wife Patricia Nunes of Tewksbury, Michael D. and his wife Patti Nunes of Winthrop, Richard Nunes of Revere, two daughters Kathryn and her husband Michael DeBenedictis of Wakefield, Kristine and her husband Christopher Randall of Walpole, three sisters Janice and her husband Frank Wainwright of FL, Peggy D’Angelo of Brookline, Maryann and Richard Bancroft of Peabody, one brother Frank D’Angelo of East Boston, ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Bonita Tino.
A visiting hour will be held in the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home 210 Winthrop St. Winthrop on Tuesday, February 23, from 9:00-10:00 AM, followed by funeral services in the funeral home at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are invited with current social distance and capacity guidelines being observed in both the funeral home and the cemetery. Interment will follow in Winthrop Cemetery (Belle Isle Section).
