Obituary

Paul J. Hutchinson of Westwood, Massachusetts, was born in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston. Dearly beloved husband and best friend of his wife, Rachel. Predeceased by his first wife, Roberta, mother of his 5 daughters. Loving Father of Deborah (husband John) Wilhelmi, Catherine O’Keefe, Paula (husband Michael) Cole. Roberta Hutchinson and Tara (husband Paul) Comendul. Proud grandfather of Ryan, Audra, John Paul, Callie, Jimmy Joe, Tyler, Kyle, Caroline, Catherine, Brianne, Brandon, Shannon, Molly, Duggan, Carrick and Lila; and Great Grandfather (GG) to Tadhg, Niamh, Jack, Emma, Cole and Kaia. Veteran of the Korean War, he served in the Marine Corps as a tank commander in Korea from 1951-53. Paul later joined the Boston Police Department and served 32 years, retiring as a Detective. He received the Boston Police Department’s “Walter Scott Medal for Valor”, the Departments Medal of Honor and the State of Massachusetts George Hanna Award for Bravery from an incident during which he sustained a gunshot injury. Predeceased by his sister, Catherine and his brothers, James, Arthur and John. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Paul loved animals, especially his “Buddy”, and was notorious for bringing home a cat or a dog for his daughters and grandchildren. He loved his family, singing Irish songs, the Boston Bruins, Seagull Beach, golfing, and his many friends in the Preserve. Services will be private. Burial at the Massachusetts National Veterans Cemetery in Bourne.
