Obituary

CHICOPEE – Rose (Vuick) Rainey, 84, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, February 18, 2021. She passed into Eternal Life at her daughter’s home in Chicopee surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Trafford, Pennsylvania on September 21, 1936, a beloved daughter of the late Miller and Mildred (Mrkich) Vuick. She was raised and educated in Trafford and later lived in Kansas, Newfoundland, Canada and moved to Chicopee in 1963. She was a Customer Service Representative for Spalding Sports Worldwide in Chicopee and previously was employed at Craftmount in Holyoke. Rose enjoyed spending time tending to her beautiful gardens and pulling weeds around her home. She also enjoyed boating with her family and friends at Mitch’s Marina in South Hadley and traveling to Texas to visit with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Most of all, she loved to sit at her kitchen table sharing stories and exchanging laughter with her family and many friends. Rose was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Thomas E. Rainey, Sr. who was Called Home on June 16, 2004. They were married in Wall, Pennsylvania on September 28, 1952 and were blessed with over 51 years of happiness together. She leaves her seven loving children, Thomas E. Rainey, Jr. of Flower Mound, TX, Jody L. Galarneau and her husband, Bruce, of Chicopee, Timothy E. Rainey and his wife, Dee, of Wortham, TX, Connie S. Magoon of Chicopee, Robert M. Rainey of Lake Dallas, TX, Marie A. Rainey of Monson and Nancy G. Johnson of Canton, TX; her 13 cherished grandchildren, Kelly Naglieri and her husband, Matt, James Galarneau, Angela Chelf, Craig Rainey, Suzanne Magoon and her partner, Jamie Donahue, Tim Magoon, Tyler Magoon, Leigh Anne Budd and her husband, Collin, Gordon Rainey and his wife, Kristin, Ellen Smith and her husband, Casey, Amy Rucker and her husband, Landy, Danny Johnson and Kevin Johnson; her nine cherished great grandchildren, Logan, Evan, Drew, Skylyn, Zayden, Ryan, Emma, Aiden and Mykayla; her dear sister, Violet Fornal and her husband, Robert, of Sandwich; her dear brother, Charles “Sonny” Vuick of Coraopolis, PA; her dear brother-in-law, Herk Rainey and his wife, Jeannette, of Texas; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, “adopted children”, extended family members and friends. A Committal Service will be held at a later date at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. There are no visiting hours. Her funeral arrangements are entrusted to the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
