Obituary

Marie C. Dickinson 86, of Franklin, passed away peacefully at home on February 17, 2021 with her family by her side. Marie married the love of her life in 1954, the late Charles V. Dickinson, with whom she celebrated 62 years of marriage before his passing in 2016. Following his passing, and even as her health declined, Marie was an inspiration of strength and determination to all that knew her.

She was raised in Holbrook, MA and was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Annie (Arsenault) Mackie.
Marie’s 7 children, 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren were the center of her world, and her true purpose.

Her days were filled with many visits and calls with her family, and the daily updates on their lives, travels and accomplishments were a source of great joy. Marie had endless love for her family, and blanketed them with her amazing heart and words of wisdom every day.

She loved Aruba and had many wonderful trips to the island with her family. She loved to shop, watch Hallmark movies, the Patriots, and cooking shows. She was her families Top Chef. She enjoyed hosting dinner parties for family and friends, and her famous meatballs will forever be a family favorite.

Marie taught by example the importance of family and family traditions. Her favorite tradition, that she started with her sister Helen over 50 years ago, was the yearly family Christmas party. Having not only her family all together, but also her nieces, nephews, and their spouses and children, was the highlight of her year. A tradition that the whole family continues to this day.

Marie’s love moved mountains, turned sadness into joy, and family celebrations into life long memories.
She was truly her families rock and guiding light, and will now shine bright on them from heaven, alongside her beloved Charlie.

She was the loving mother of Debbie Merrifield and her husband John of Mashpee, Donna Orr and her husband Bruce of Mendon, Daniel Dickinson of Fort Lauderdale, Denise Barnett and her partner Greg White of Falmouth, Deanne Dickinson of Bellingham, Dr. Charles Dickinson and his wife Keri of Franklin and Maria McCoy and her husband Norman of Canton. She was the proud “Meme" to Shannon DePaula, Jeff, Greg and Tim Merrifield, Stephanie Mehrmann and Courtney Orr, Corey and Cole Barnett, Julia and Ryan Dickinson, Maddison and Nolan McCoy, as well as her great grandchildren, Charlotte, Landon, Arthur, Alanna, Jeffrey, Gabriella and Miles.

She was pre-deceased by her beloved siblings, Helen Peloquin, Wade Mackie, Wilfred J Mackie and James Mackie.

A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday Feb. 23rd at St. Mary's Church, 1 Church Sq. in Franklin at 11AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. You my also view the Mass by clicking stmarysfranklin.org

Burial will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, next to her husband Charlie, who was a U.S. Marine.

Due to the pandemic, there are no visiting hours. The family hopes to further honor Marie’s memory at a later date.

Due to floral limitations at the cemetery, donations in her memory may be sent to the American Heart Association 20 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.
