Obituary

In Taunton, Edward M. Whelan, age 60, passed away peacefully in Morton Hospital on February 15, 2021 while surrounded by his loving family. Edward is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years Marjorie (Finch) Whelan of Raynham. He was born in Boston, the son of the late Paul & Marilyn (Brady) Whelan. Edward was a resident of Raynham for many years and was formerly of Norwood. He was a graduate of St. Catherine’s in Norwood and later from Xaverian Brothers High School in Westwood. Edward then graduated from Salve Regina College in Newport, RI and later received his Masters Degree from Cambridge College. Edward was employed as a special needs teacher for the City of Boston, retiring in 2011. He enjoyed going to the beach, was an avid reader, cooking, telling stories, playing games on his phone and having his favorite drink, diet Pepsi. He and his wife Marjorie found great joy in being foster parents for ten years. Edward had many interest but above all he cherished his time with family and friends. Edward leaves his loving children; Meghan Whelan of Raynham, Elijah Whelan of Old Town, ME, Adam Whelan of Raynham and Katelyn Whelan of Phoenix, Arizona, his grandchild, Aza-riyah Whelan of Fall River, his siblings; Kathleen Whelan and husband Bruce Kubic of SC, Paul Whelan and wife Lori of Sandwich, Brian Whelan and wife Lori of Walpole, sister in law Ann Duncan and husband Richard of Canton and several nieces and nephews. A long side his family, he left his two dear friends, David Britt of Sandwich and Heidi Ortiz of Dennis Port. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February, 22, 2021 at Holy Family Church in East Taunton at 11am. Visitation and burial are private. Arrangements are under the care of the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home in Taunton.
