METHUEN Peter Mburu Mwichigi, 75 of Methuen, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at Lawrence General Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Irene N. (Njeri) Mwichigi, with whom he spent the last 51 years.
He was born on January 9, 1946 in Makwa Village, Kenya and was a son of the late, Kinoru Mwichigi and the late Virginia (Wageni) Mwichigi. He was raised in Kenya, where he studied administration in college, before relocating to the United States in 2003 with his family.
Peter was employed as a personal care attendant in the healthcare field for many years. Previously in Kenya, he worked as an administrator for the public works ministry.
He is a member of St. Michael's Church in Lowell, and Mangu Parish Catholic Church in Kenya. He is very community oriented, he was a member of "My Brother's Keeper" and very involved with his church community, and the CMA (Catholic Men's Association).
In addition to his wife, Irene N. (Njeri) Mwichigi of Methuen, he is survived by his children, Ann Wageni Mwichigi and her husband, Charles Njogu of Thika, Kenya, Charles Mwaura Mwichigi of Thika, Kenya, Christopher Mureithi Mwichigi and his wife, Elizabeth of Burlington, MA, Diana Kogi and her husband, Gideon of Kenya & Canada; his 8 grandchildren; and many family and friends throughout the United States and Kenya.
