Aura Luz Valverde Muñoz, 66.
October 29, 1954 - February 11, 2021.
Aura Luz was born on October 29, 1954 in Diriamba, Carazo, Nicaragua to Rosa Amelia Gutierrez and Damaso Filiberto Muñoz. Raised and educated in Nicaragua she immigrated to the United States in May of 1988 and continued to live in the Greater Boston area. She was married to José Hermide Valverde.
She will be remembered for her ever-growing Faith in God. This Faith allowed her to become part of different ministries and an instructor of Faith in the Archdiocese of Boston, Holy Family Parish in Dorchester, and St. Christopher Parish in Dorchester, many other Archdioceses in the New England Area. She also held many leadership roles within the Charismatic Renewal of Boston, which also led her into becoming the first Coordinator and Instructor for <
Aura Luz was a medical professional that dedicated her life to serving others. She began her career of serving others at Pine Street Inn in Boston; continuing to help disabled community in Waltham; and spent her last twenty years at Boston Medical Center within the Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Medicine Services and Hematology Oncology Department.
Aura Luz loved her family both here in the Boston area and in her native home of Nicaragua. She is preceded in death by her father Damaso, her brother Marcos Aurelio Muñoz, her sister Carmen del Socorro Gutierrez Muñoz. She leaves behind her husband, José, and her children Emeli de los Angeles and Joseph Daniel, and her beloved dog, Lucky; her mother Rosa Amelia; her siblings, Maria Albertina, Lidia del Socorro, Damaso Filiberto, Mayra Elena, Manuel de Jesús (Nicaragua); her nieces and nephews that became her adopted children Candida, Alejandro, Rosalina, Aura Elena, and Luis Eliezer (Nicaragua). She is also survived by her many loving nieces and nephews (Nicaragua).
Family and friends will honor and remember Aura Luz in life by gathering for the vigil at St. Christopher Parish (265 Mount Vernon St., Dorchester, MA 02125) on Friday, February 19th, from 5:00-8:00 PM. Her Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 20th, at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Parish (24 Hartford St., Dorchester, MA 02125). Burial will follow at St. Michael Cemetery, Boston.
Due to the restrictions of COVID 19, all attendees in people must wear a mask and practice social distancing. The Archdiocese of Boston has limited its capacity to 40% (100 people)

Aura Luz Valverde Muñoz nació el 29 de octubre de 1954 en Diriamba, Carazo, Nicaragua de sus padres Rosa Amelia Gutiérrez y Dámaso Filiberto Muñoz. Criada y educada en Nicaragua, Aura Luz emigró a los Estados Unidos en mayo de 1988 y continuó viviendo en el área de Boston. Estaba casada con el señor José Hermide Valverde.
Aura Luz será recordada por su creciente fe en Dios. Esta fe le permitió formar parte de diferentes ministerios y ser instructora de Fe en la Arquidiócesis de Boston, la Parroquia de la Sagrada Familia en Dorchester, y la Parroquia de Saint Christopher en Dorchester y muchas otras Arquidiócesis en el área de Nueva Inglaterra <
Aura Luz fue una profesional de la medicina que dedicó su vida a servir a todos. Comenzó su carrera de servicio a los demás en Pine Street Inn en Boston. Luego ayudó a la comunidad de discapacitados en Waltham y trabajó sus últimos veinte años en el Centro Médico de Boston <
Aura Luz amaba a su familia tanto aquí, en el área de Boston como en su tierra natal Nicaragua. La preceden su padre Dámaso Filiberto Muñoz, su hermano Marcos Aurelio Muñoz y su hermana Carmen del Socorro Gutiérrez Muñoz. Le sobreviven su esposo José Valverde y sus hijos Emeli de los Ángeles y Joseph Daniel, también su querida mascota Lucky. Además en su país Nicaragua, le sobreviven su madre Rosa Amelia, sus hermanos María Albertina, Lidia del Socorro, Dámaso Filiberto, Mayra Elena, Manuel de Jesús, sus sobrinos que se convirtieron en sus hijos adoptivos Cándida, Alejandro, Rosalina, Aura Elena y Luis Eliezer. Entre muchos otros familiares le sobreviven sus numerosos y cariñosos sobrinos también de Nicaragua.
Sus familiares y amigos estarán honrando y recordando a Aura Luz, reuniéndose para la vigilia en la Parroquia de Saint Christopher (265 Mount Vernon St., Dorchester, MA 02125) el viernes 19 de febrero, de 5:00 a 8:00 PM. Su Misa de Réquiem se celebrará el sábado, 20 de febrero, a las 10:00 AM en la Parroquia de la Sagrada Familia (24 Hartford St., Dorchester, MA 02125). El sepelio tendrá lugar en el cementerio de Saint Michael en Boston.
