John Franklin Pino, Sr., 85

Dateline: Norton, MA

John Franklin, Pino, Sr., age 85, of Norton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at the Hope Health Hospice center in Providence. He was the beloved husband of the late Patricia M. (Roberts) Pino.


Born in Attleboro, MA on January 3, 1936, he was a loving son of the late Charles R. and Althier C. (Connolly) Pino.


In 1954 Mr. Pino graduated from Monsignor Coyle High School in Taunton, Massachusetts where he played football. He earned an associate degree in architecture at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston. He then served in the army in the Incheon District of South Korea for a 16-month duty as a clerk typist.

In 1958, Mr. Pino married Patricia M. Roberts, a nurse at Sturdy Memorial Hospital. He worked as a civil engineer for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for twenty-eight years. Mr. Pino also helped his parents run the family restaurant, The Victory Casa.

During his retirement, Mr. Pino and his wife spent several years enjoying their summer home in Provincetown. He loved fishing, boating, and sitting in front of Town Hall making friends with everyone.

A life-long resident of Norton, he served on the town’s Board of Health and donated a parcel of land to the town in 2018 to use as a boat launch. He is lovingly remembered for his deep loyalty to his family, his outgoing personality, and his great sense of humor.

Ms. Pino is survived by his daughter Althier Lazar of Gladwyne, Pennsylvania, his sons John Pino Jr. of Norton, Charles Pino of Norton, and his grandchildren Danielle Pino of Newton, Christopher Pino of Boston, Zachary Lazar and Aaron Lazar both of New York City. He was the brother of Richard Pino of Arizona and the late Frank Pino.

His funeral service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday, February 20th at 12:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton. Burial with military honors will follow at the Norton Center Cemetery in Norton.

Visitation will be held prior to the services on Saturday morning beginning at 11:00 A.M at the funeral home.
