TEWKSBURY - James D. Doherty, age 74, died Monday morning, March 20th, at Saints
Memorial Medical Center in Lowell following a brief illness.
He was the beloved husband of Lucille (Morelli) Doherty and devoted father of James Doherty and
his wife Paula of Andover, MA, Laura Bramlett and her husband Dana of Barrington, NH
and Michael Doherty and his wife McMillan of Peterborough, NH. He is also survived by
seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Jim was born in Dedham, MA on January 2, 1932, son of Mary Catherine (McGrath) Ray
of Windham, NH, and the late James D. Doherty, and stepson of the late John Ray. He
was a loving brother to Barbara Whelan of Windham, NH, Mary Gamberoni of Everett,
MA and the late Robert Doherty.
Jim served in the United States Marines Corp and was a veteran of the Korean War. He
was also a proud member of Boston's Local 7 Ironworkers of America and the
Metropolitan District Commission's mounted police force.
Mr. Doherty lived in Tewksbury since 1963, was an active member of the Tewksbury-
Wilmington Elks Lodge 2070, where he was once honored as Elk of the Year for his
service to the community.
His Funeral Mass was held Friday, Mar. 24, in St. William's
Church, Tewksbury. Donations in his name may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.
