Obituary

SPRINGFIELD – Irene T. (Deblois) Douillard, 92, of the Forest Park section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, February 10, 2021. She passed into Eternal Life peacefully from her home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Springfield on September 24, 1928, the beloved daughter of the late Paul and Marie Anna (Lemoine) Deblois. She was raised in Springfield, graduated from Cathedral High School and was a lifelong resident of Springfield. She was an embroiderer for Bolduc Trophies in West Springfield. She was a longtime communicant of the former Saint Joseph Church in Springfield where she was a member of the Senior Choir. She currently was a communicant of Holy Name Church in Springfield where she was a member of the Cursillo Prayer Group. During her leisure time, Irene enjoyed bowling and painting. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and soul mate, George H. Douillard who was Called Home on November 6, 2009. They were married on May 31, 1948 at the former Saint Thomas Aquinas Church in Springfield and were blessed with over 61 years of happiness together. She leaves her two loving children, Raymond G. Douillard and his wife, Arlene, of Westfield, and Celeste B. Diede and her husband, Harry, of Springfield; her dear son-in-law, Joseph V. Spiriti of Florida; her nine cherished grandchildren, Gina Hailer and her husband, Charles, Joseph Spiriti and his wife, Pinky, Michael Spiriti and his wife, Wendy, Daniel Arona and his wife, Lori, Michellene Cyr and her husband, Peter, Marcie Arona, Anthony Douillard and his wife, Marcy, Shawn Regan, and Shannon Regan and her partner, Kyle Laundry; her 20 cherished great-grandchildren; her dear sister-in-law, Gina Douillard of Virginia; and her many nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended family members. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Annette T. Spiriti who was Called Home on November 17, 1992, and her nine dear siblings. Her Funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Name Church, 323 Dickinson Street, Springfield, MA 01108. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Saint Michael Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home for a WALK-THRU Visitation on Monday, February 15, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Please note that masks are required, social distancing must be observed and funeral home, church and cemetery attendance are limited due to state regulations.
