We start as a slow trickle of a mountain stream, running towards the ocean.
Our dear mother is now dancing with our father in Heaven. Francesca Antonia (Chicchina) Quijada, 88 of Ventura, Ca. Passed away on February 8, 2021 in Ventura Ca. Francesca was born in Taurianova,
Reggio Calabria, Italy. She immigrated to Ventura, Ca. in 1957 after marrying our father Joe in Italy. For not being an adventurous person, this was the beginning of a long life with the man she loved. Here in Ventura she raised, two children. Maria and Giuseppe Quijada.
She loved to sew. She was an excellent seamstress and was sought after for her talents. She was always and amazing cook. Many a night friends and family would be gathered around the table eating her delicious lasagna. She also loved working for JC Penny’s. She will always be remembered for her love of bingo, her smile and laughter and Las Vegas baby.
Francesca is survived by her children Maria Quijada, Giuseppe (Patti) Quijada of Ventura, Ca. She is also survived by her sister Antonietta (Antonio) Barbera . She is survived by her Grandchildren, Sara (David) Winstead, Dylan Quijada, Jason Holley, Rita Quijada and Great grand Son, Zion Holley, and her many nieces and nephews.
Francesca is preceded in death by her mother Maria Ruggerio and her father Giuseppe Alessi. Her brothers Pepino Alessi, Gaetano Alessi, Rosaro Alessi. The Family would like to extend their gratitude to Livingston Memorial and her nurse Samantha Little.
Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of the Assumption in Ventura on February 18 th at 11 am. Her viewing will be at Joseph P Reardon Funeral Home on February 17 th from 6 pm to 9 pm. Arrangements are under the direction of JOSEPH P REARDON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 757 E Main St, Ventura.
