Leonard Elton Stubbs, 92, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Sunday, March 19, 2006, at the Life Care Center in Fitzgerald.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM on Wednesday, March 22, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Barry Gordon and Rev. David Fisher officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7 until 9, Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Stubbs was born March 27, 1913, in Wilcox County, Georgia, to the late Samuel H. and Mary Addison Stubbs. He lived in Fitzgerald since 1974 from Lincoln Park, MI. Mr. Stubbs retired from Allied Chemicals in Detroit after 28 ½ years, where he was the former Union Shop Steward, and was a former employee of the G.M. Transmission Plant in Ypsilanti, MI for five years. He was the oldest male member of Crossview Baptist Church.
Mr. Stubbs is survived by his wife of seventy-two years: Flora Mae Beanblossom Stubbs of Fitzgerald; son: Larry E. Stubbs of Fitzgerald; 6 grandchildren: Suzanna E. Hughes, Nathan E. Stubbs, Matthew E. Stubbs, Kayla E. Stubbs, Jonathan E. Stubbs and Alissa E. Stubbs; 3 great-grandchildren: Abegail Stubbs, Colin M. Hughes and Alec T. Hughes. He was preceded in death by a son, Leonard E. Stubbs, Jr.
