Obituary

Mrs. Eileen Evans Trawick age 94, a native of Tifton, Ga and longtime resident of Raleigh, NC passed away Saturday, February 6th, 2021. She was a faithful wife, mother, grandmother and dedicated community and church leader. She attended the University of Georgia where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority and received degrees in zoology and chemistry.

Eileen Evans married William F. Trawick and moved to Tallahassee, FL where they started their family. From there they spent many years in Decatur, Ga., Nashville, Tn. and finally Raleigh, NC. She was a founding member and deacon of Greystone Baptist Church in Raleigh. She helped organize, direct and lead children’s Sunday school and vacation bible school.

The spunk, energy, dedication and fierce love of family were admired by all that knew her. She raised five boys who all lettered in NCAA football and graduated from East Tennessee State University. She was known to attend her son’s football games from Wednesday to Saturday in multiple states as their most loyal fan. Everyone that met her was embraced with her grace, southern charm and love.

Mrs. Trawick was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Leander and Elizabeth Evans, husband, William F Trawick Sr., grandson, William Evans Trawick. She survived by William F. Trawick, Jr. (Betsy) of Apalachicola, FL; Lee, Trawick (Sylvia) of Columbia, SC; Steve Trawick (Kathy) of Suwanee, GA; Don Trawick (Charlotte) of Suwanee, GA and Guy Trawick (Nancy) of Wake Forest, NC; 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

A private family graveside service will be held in Tifton, Ga. on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2021 with Rev. Allen Sasser presiding. A celebration of life will be planned for a later time in Raleigh, NC. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 13, 2021, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. COVID-19 guidelines will be followed during the visitation and the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, please consider giving in Eileen’s memory to Greystone Baptist Church, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, or any organization that supports children.
