Obituary

FALL RIVER…Helen G. Pietraszek, 100 years of age, born and raised on Hall Street in the South End of Fall River, passed away February 5, 2021.

She was a daughter of the late Stanislaw and Karolina (Dziedzic) Pietraszek. Helen and her brother, Ted, managed the family owned property until 1976 when she and her family built their home in Tiverton, RI; a home she owns to this day.  Helen moved to Landmark Senior Living Community, currently know as Prosper at Fall River, in 2015.

Ms. Pietraszek was a life-long communicant of St. Stanislaus Church where she had also attended school for several years. After completing her education in the Fall River public school system, Helen went on to continue her education and received training as a Bookkeeper. She started her career working in the office of a Fall River Textile Mill. Her employment then moved to the former Truesdale Hospital and finally the Newport, RI Naval Station, where she worked as a bookkeeper for several years before retiring in 1988.

Helen lived a life of hard work and responsibility, exceeding expectations put upon her. She was the cement that held her family together. Helen helped raise her younger sister, often making their clothes by hand, a skill learned from her father, a Fall River tailor. She took her role as the matriarch of the family seriously, becoming a guiding influence for the younger women in her life. Though she is credited with many achievements, Helen always remained humble and preferred more of a private life.

Survivors include her niece: Joan Hopf (husband, Richard) of Goffstown, NH; her great niece: Melissa Hopf of Manchester, NH as well as friends and acquaintances, many of whom she met while living at Landmark Senior Living Community. She was the loving sister of the late Thaddeus A. and Genevieve A. Pietraszek.

Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Thursday, February 11, 2021 at 9 AM from the Boyko Memorial Funeral Home, 709 Broadway, Fall River followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Stanislaus Church, Rockland St. Fall River. Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 3 – 5 PM.
