PORTER – Joan C Polhamer, age 91, passed away from cancer on February 5, 2021, at her son’s home in Albion. She was born in Woburn, Massachusetts on July 12, 1929, the daughter of Raymond Chase and Irene Vassar.
Joan moved to Maine in 2004 to be near family and in 2005 she purchased and converted the old Calvary Bible Church building on the corner of Chapel and School streets into a private residence. Preserving as much of the original historical character of the building as possible. There she settled in and thoroughly enjoying the peace and tranquility of her unique home.
Joan was a member of the Embroiderers Guild of America and created many exceptional works of art that are now enjoyed by family and friends.
Joan is survived by her children Kristen Marquette and her husband Frank of Rosendale, NY and Bradley Taylor and his wife Cindy of Albion, ME. Seven grandchildren – Irene, Katherine, Victoria, Allen, Dean, Matthew, and Christopher; plus, six great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday February 20 at 11 AM at the Albion Christian Church, her son Pastor Brad Taylor will be presiding. The service will also be streamed live on Facebook using the Albion Christian Church Facebook page.
