Obituary

CHICOPEE – Kenneth R. “Kenny” Lapierre, 70, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, February 4, 2021. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on February 7, 1950, the beloved son of C. Barbara (Therrien) Lapierre of Chicopee and the late Adrien I.V. Lapierre who was Called Home on April 27, 2005. He was raised in Fairview, graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School and was a lifelong resident of Fairview. He served his country in the United States Navy in the Vietnam War and attained the rank of Airman Apprentice. He received the National Defense Service Medal. He was employed as a forklift operator at the former Halmar Industries and later worked as a supervisor at Hapco Auto Parts, both in Holyoke. He was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee where he also was a member of their maintenance club. He also was a former member of the Fairview Council 4044 Knights of Columbus in Chicopee. During his leisure time, he enjoyed watching westerns and was a big fan of John Wayne, watching NASCAR races and his beloved Boston Red Sox and also enjoyed “tinkering” around his beloved Fairview home. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and his many friends. In addition to his mother, he leaves his beloved wife and soul mate, Eileen A. (Burke) Lapierre. They were married on May 17, 1975 in Chicopee and were blessed with over 45 years of happiness together. He also leaves his three loving children, Karen D. Jalbert and her husband, Daniel, of Westfield and Jennifer A. LeMay and Jason P. Lapierre and his wife, Noel, all of Chicopee; his eight cherished grandchildren, Andrew Jalbert and his wife, Vera, Kathryn “Katie” Jalbert, Zachary “Zack” LeMay, Justin Guzman and his fiancée, Sadie Lynn, and Alexander “Alex”, Noah, Makayla and Logan Lapierre; his dear sister, Barbara Lapierre of South Hadley; his dear brother-in-law, Edmund Burke and his wife, Judy, of East Falmouth; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. He will also be deeply missed by his grand dogs, Kyia and Koko; and his grand cats, Zuko and Maddie. His Funeral Services will be private and his Committal Service with United States Navy Military Honors will be private at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
