Obituary

On Wednesday February 3rd, 2021 Loretta Frank, passed away peacefully at home with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren-to-be by her side.
Loretta was born in Catonsville, Maryland in 1926 to Bridget Angela and Dallas Parrott Crandall. She was the youngest of their seven children and lived in Maryland until 1952 when she married Robert John Frank and moved to Oxnard, California. She then began her life mission, passion, and love of raising her seven children: Kathleen (husband Jan), Karen (husband Rob), Kim (husband Pete), Robert Jr. (wife Jane), Michael, Patrick (wife Nancy), and Peter, and 13 grandchildren Christopher, Caitlin, Santos, Vianey, John, Katherine, Charles, William, Michaela, Sean, Brian, Nicole, and Thomas. She has two great-grandchildren-to-be, Mila and Mailey.
In addition to being a rock to her family, she was a woman of Catholic faith, and an enthusiastic parishioner at Santa Clara Church in Oxnard. She volunteered countless hours of her time at both Santa Clara Church and R. J. Frank Academy of Marine Science and Engineering, which was named in her late husband’s honor.
Throughout the 68 years Loretta lived in Oxnard, she built a strong community that extended beyond her own family and church, and included many neighbors, her siblings, nieces and nephews. She was a mother to all, and her children’s friends were always welcomed into her home and felt like they were a part of the family. She was a lover of life and shared that joy with all.
She will be remembered for her sense of humor, witty life lessons, sharp intellect, taste for Gold Medal Ribbon ice cream, Sudoku, puzzles, limericks, Baltimorese, and the way she made everyone she interacted with feel appreciated. Loretta would want to extend her gratitude to everyone who loved, supported and cared for her, both throughout her life and in her final years, including her Santa Clara friends (who became another family) and neighbors.
A memorial mass will be held outside at Santa Clara Church in Oxnard, CA on Thursday February 11 at 10am. For those who cannot attend, the memorial will be recorded and available at lorettafrank.com, and we invite all who knew her to leave a tribute or story there. In memory of Loretta, her family invites you to give generously to Santa Clara Church. Or you can simply bring a dinner plate to a neighbor, lend a hand to a friend in need, or reach out to someone who would benefit from a reminder that they are loved.
