Obituary

Mr. Gerald P. “Gerry” White of Medford, passed away at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on Sunday, January 31, 2021, following a lengthy illness. He was 57 years old.

Born in Newport, Rhode Island, he was the beloved son of the late George D. and Margaret E. (Jones) White. Mr. White was raised in Medford and was a graduate of Austin Prep High School. He also attended UMASS Amherst where he was an outstanding athlete. Gerry was employed as a Recruiter for many years, using his outgoing personality to his advantage. Most recently, prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, he started his own travel business and was looking forward to enjoying the ability to see different places, while building up his clientele. Gerry was also a patient advocate with the National Kidney Foundation and did his best to not let this disease limit him in any way. Throughout the years of health challenges, he would always have a smile on his face, while encouraging others to live their life to the fullest. We pray his courage and determination made a difference in the lives of those he came in contact with. Gerry LOVED sports since the time he could walk. He played Wellingto-Glenwood baseball, and football from Pop Warner to college. After he became a father, you could always find him coaching and watching his son, Kyle follow in his footsteps. He was an avid New England sports fan and loved to watch his teams play, while yelling instructions to them through the TV. Gerry loved talking and meeting new people. He was a faithful friend to many. Above all, Gerry was a man of faith who loved his children more than life itself. He will be dearly missed.

Gerry is survived by his loving daughter; Sonja R. White of Parlin, New Jersey, siblings; Dr. Sheila L. White-Jackson of Desoto, Texas, Gregory S. and his wife Marjorie “Rose” White of Beaumont, California, George D., III, and his wife Dorothea A. White of Medford, James R.
