Carmela P. “Mela” (Cascio) Leopold, of Nashua, NH, passed away on Wednesday, January 27th. She was 94. Born and raised in Sicily, Italy, she was the cherished daughter of the late John and Josephine Cascio.
Mela loved to spend time with her family. She especially loved spending time with her husband, step children, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Mela’s family was her pride and joy; they were her world. She had a sweet and witty sense of humor with a touch of feistiness. A strong independent woman who never asked for help; when it came to helping others she would help anyone in need; there was no one she would turn away even if it meant she was to go without. Always putting other’s interest before her own. Mela had a caring disposition and a heart of gold. She will be greatly missed by all.
Carmela was the beloved wife of the late Benjamin Leopold. She was the cherished daughter of the late John and Josephine Cascio. She was the dear sister of the late Matthew Cascio of Winthrop, and the late Raymond J. Cascio. She was the step mother of Glenn Leopold and his wife Alison of CA, Gary Leopold and his wife Kim of Boston, Wendy Leopold and her son Jared Drace of NY. She was the dear sister in law and friend of Ann (Ruma) Cascio. She is also survived by many adoring nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may visit with Mela’s family at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, on Friday, February 5th, from 9:30 through 10:30 AM. A funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner St., Medford, at 11 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Social distancing protocols will be followed throughout the services
