Merton Alan Petty, 87, of Westport passed away at home on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 as a result of Covid-19. He was the husband of Pauline (Briggs) Petty, they were married for 56 years.
Born and raised in Little Compton, RI, he was son of the late Nellie (Airey) and Merton L. Petty. Mr. Petty was a proud veteran of the Korean War, serving as a radio operator in the United States Air Force. He worked for Digital Equipment Corporation and Sylvania as a manager for many years. Fishing was his passion and for that reason he established and managed Westport Marine Specialties for many years before retiring.
Including his wife, survivors include 4 sons: Mark Petty of NH, David Petty of NH, Mitchell Petty of Billerica, MA and Lee Petty of Easton, MA; 3 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.
Honoring his wishes, viewing is omitted and private services will be held.
