Sharon G. Pettis, 72, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held 3 PM, Friday, January 29, 2021, at Holt Cemetery, in Irwin County, Georgia, with the Rev. Justin McCrimmon and Brother Joey Veal officiating.
Mrs. Pettis was born March 22, 1948, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Mayo & Edith Jones Grimsley. She lived in the community all of her life and worked for Red & White Grocery for over 20 years and the Irwin County Board of Education for 26 years. She also was the bookkeeper for Fitzgerald Contractors. Mrs. Pettis was a devoted Christian woman and she loved watching her grandkids play sports. Mrs. Pettis was a member and treasurer of CrossPointe Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children: Tommy & Lisa Pettis of Ocilla and Dana & Chris Paulk of Ocilla; grandchildren: Brian Pettis & Jillian, Ariel Lea Roberts & Matt, Austin Pettis, Tucker Paulk, Connor Paulk and Cooper Paulk. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon L. Pettis, Jr.; a sister, Marie Grimsley Bridwell; and two brothers: Alan P. Grimsley and Bobby Grimsley.
