Gilford-George Abbott Snow, III, 61, of Weirs Road died Saturday morning, March 18, 2006 at Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia after a brief illness.
Born in Lawrence, MA on July 10, 1944 he was the son of the late George A., Jr. and Lillian (Marquis) Snow. George was raised and schooled in Andover, MA graduating from Andover High. He had been a resident of Gilford for the past 24 years coming from Andover, MA.
George was employed by Aggregate Industries in Saugus, MA as a Superintendent of Road Construction. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, and a proud and dedicated member of the Seabees.
George was a member of the Winnipesaukee Radio Controllers Club, and the Knights of Columbus in Massachusetts. He enjoyed snowmobiling, boating, fishing, and golfing.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Joanna (Belair) Snow of Gilford, four sons, Scott LaFrance of Illinois, Christopher Snow of Barrington, NH, Jason Nichols of Wells, ME, and Joshua Nichols of Gilford, one sister, Janice Murphy of Bradford, MA, one sister-in-law, Jane Belair of New Rochelle, NY. Three grandchildren, Paige and Janna LaFrance, and Joslyn Snow, one nephew, Jeremiah Murphy, and one niece, Jennifer Murphy, also survive George.
A Mass of Christian Burial followed by Military Honors was celebrated on Thursday March 23, 2006 at Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Avenue, Laconia at 10:00 am, Rev. Adrien R. Longchamps pastor of the church celebrated the mass. Visiting hours were Wednesday March 22, 2006 from 4-8 pm at the Simoneau-Paquette Memorial Home, 139 Church Street, Laconia. Family and friends were invited to attend.
