Obituary

GRANBY – Alice E. Proulx, 84, a longtime resident of Granby, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, January 23, 2021. She passed into Eternal Life at the Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia, South Carolina surrounded by all the memories she loved and cherished. She was born in Northfield, New Hampshire on October 2, 1936, a beloved daughter of the late Edward and Marie (Fleury) Florence. She was raised in Northfield, moved to Chicopee around 1960, then to Granby in 1966 where she lived until 2017 when she moved to Lexington, South Carolina where she lived the remainder of her life. She was employed for many years at the Inter-All Company in Granby. She was a longtime volunteer at bingo, monthly spaghetti suppers and various other functions at the Fairview Council 4044 Knights of Columbus. Most of all, she was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her family and her many friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and soul mate, Alfred G. “Fred” Proulx who was Called Home on October 28, 2017. They were married on May 14, 1960 at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 57 years of happiness together. She leaves her five loving children, Lisa M. O’Neil and her fiancé, Edgar Huard, of Granby, Lt Col Alfred G. Proulx III and his wife, Kim, of Kennesaw, GA, Alan B. Proulx and his wife, Tammy, of Chicopee, Mary A. Robert and her husband, Charles, of Lexington, SC, and Kevin D. Proulx and his wife, Sherralee, of South Hadley; her nine cherished grandchildren, Ryan Merrill, Brett Merrill and his wife, Brittany, Elise Phillips and her husband, Shane, Michael Proulx and his wife, Tonda, Lauren Proulx, Emilee Proulx, Jared Robert, Tara Nicole Robert and Katelyn Proulx; her three cherished great-grandchildren, Ella and Karsyn Phillips and Weston Proulx; her two dear brothers, Alfred Florence and his spouse, George Zayas, of San Antonio, TX and Edward Florence, Jr. and his wife, Leslie, of New Hampshire; her dear sister, Theresa Carter of Zephyrhills, FL; her two dear sisters-in-law, Pauline Dupree of Chicopee and Marilyn Burgen of Springfield; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended family members. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her dear siblings, Ralph, Lucille and Dorothy. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday morning, February 2, 2021 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9:15 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 256 State Street, Granby, MA 01033. Her Committal Service will be private for her family in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home for a WALK-THRU visitation on Monday, February 1, 2021 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee.
