Obituary

Mr. Ronny Gene Branam, 76, died on Monday, January 18, 2021, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

Graveside services will be held 2 PM, Saturday, January 23, 2021, at Abba Cemetery in Ben Hill County, Georgia, with the Rev. Sam Sellars and the Rev. Howard Kitchens officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the sanctuary of Abba Baptist Church.

Mr. Branam was born in Irwin County on November 6, 1944, to John Robert and Ellen Hogan Branam. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Branam Grimes and son, Dean Branam. He graduated from Irwin County High School in 1964. Mr. Branam served his country honorably as a member of the Georgia National Guard. He was injured while serving in Desert Storm and retired from Guard duty after returning home. He farmed in Irwin County for over 55 years. On September 19, 1965, he married Linda Barrow Branam. They raised two sons and one daughter. Mr. Branam’s favorite pastime was spending time with the grandchildren. He was a member and Deacon of Abba Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and led the worship service. He was known for his helping hands and his kind, compassionate heart. He was a fun-loving friend to everyone.

Survivors include: wife, Linda Barrow Branam of Fitzgerald; children, Scott Branam of Fitzgerald and Suzanne Branam Klueppelberg & Jeff of Brentwood, Tennessee; brothers, James Branam of Birmingham, Alabama and Jimmy & Vickie Branam of Brunswick; grandchildren, Josie Branam of Fitzgerald and Dean, Elle and Reed Klueppelberg, all of Brentwood, Tennessee.
