Obituary

Iris V. (Miller) Peasley, 86 of Groton, passed away as a result of complications of COVID-19 on Friday, January 15, 2021 at Emerson Hospital, with family by her side. She is survived by her beloved Barbara Walsh with whom she shared the past 30 years of her life.

She was born in Milford, MA on June 7, 1934 and was a daughter of the late Ira Miller and Frances (Griffith) Miller of Milford. She was raised in Milford where she attended the area schools, graduating from Milford High School and continuing on with local college courses.

Iris worked for the Federal Government for over thirty years, beginning as a keypunch operator for the IRS in Andover. After transitioning to the Department of Agriculture, she was instrumental in digitizing the food stamp program for the northeast before retiring in 1994. She loved her job and was very proud of her accomplishments. She was active in the community, teaching Sunday school and volunteering with the local Brownies, Girl Scouts, PTA, and Toastmasters.

Being the life of the party, Iris will always be remembered for her personality, wit, humor and intelligence. She made many dear friends over the years, including those in Arizona and Florida where she lived for a time after retirement.

In addition to her beloved, Barbara Walsh of Stratham, NH; she is survived by her four children, Joyce Peasley and her husband, Arthur Heusser of Groton, James W. Peasley, IV of Dracut, Bruce Peasley and his wife, Bobbi of Dracut, and John Peasley, Sr. of Dracut. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, three great grandchildren, a nephew and several nieces including Beth Motta of Providence, RI.

She was predeceased by her brother, the late Gordon Miller; and her dear sister, the late Beverly D’Arcangelo.
