Obituary

DUDLEY – Pauline M. (Kozlowski) Sroczynski, 84, died Monday, January 18, 2021 in St. Vincent Hospital after a long illness. Her husband of 48 years, Henry L. Sroczynski, died in 2007.

She leaves 2 daughters, Joyce A. Gergich and her husband Timothy J. Gergich of Slingerlands, NY, and Elaine E. Norowski and her husband James A. Norowski of Rockfall, CT (formerly of Dudley); 2 sisters, twin Evelyn Nieszczezewski of Dudley and Elizabeth Scheyd of Beavercreek, OH; 5 grandchildren, Natalie Mayo and her husband Sean, Haley Wilsey and her husband David, and Benjamin, Aaron and Rebecca Norowski; a great-granddaughter, Maeve Pauline-Marie; nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was born on June 19, 1936 in Webster and raised there, a daughter of Ignatius “Monty” Kozlowski and Monica (Serwa) Kozlowski. She graduated from Bartlett High School in 1953. She moved to her new home in Dudley, which her husband built, in 1968.

Mrs. Sroczynski worked briefly as the secretary of Saint Joseph School. She then was a clerk at Dugan’s Drug Store in Webster for several years. She retired from the evening circulation desk at Nichols College in 2017 after 30 years of service. She also was the bookkeeper for her father’s business as a distributor.

Pauline was a communicant of Saint Andrew Bobola Church and a member of its Holy Rosary Sodality. Along with her husband, she worked at the church festivals every year, and volunteered in the kitchen for the church’s bingo from its inception. She helped with meals for the poor and in counting the Sunday collection.

Pauline enjoyed shopping for antiques, vacations at the beaches in Maine and Daytona Beach, and reading. She was devoted to her grandchildren and especially her great-granddaughter. She loved to visit her daughters’ homes and talk on the phone with her family often.

Her funeral will be held Saturday, January 23, at 10:00 AM in Saint Andrew Bobola Church, 54 West Main Street. The family will greet relatives and friends at the church starting at 9:30 AM. Visitation is private by invitation. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace. Donations in her name may be made to the American Heart Association, 3400 5th Avenue, Waltham, MA 02451 or to the American Lung Association, 1661 Worcester Road, Unit 301, Framingham, MA 01701. Arrangements are under the direction of Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster.
