Obituary

Ruth A. (Casey) Cafeteiro, 86, a lifelong Lowell resident, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at Lowell General Hospital. She was the beloved widow of the late Dominick S. Cafeteiro who died in 1970.

A daughter of the late Maurice and the late Mabelle (Comeau) Casey, she was born December 4, 1934, in Lowell, and was educated in the local schools.

Ruth made her lifelong home in Lowell, raised her family as a mother, grandmother and a great grandmother. She cherished her time spent with family more than anything, they are her legacy.

Additionally, she enjoyed knitting, scrapbooking, playing Bingo at Rogers Hall, going on bus trips with the senior center, watching Judge Judy and doing crossword puzzles in her spare time. She enjoyed activities at Rogers Hall with all her friends especially her good friend Donna Sherman.


Her survivors include her 4 children, Dominick Cafeteiro of Chelmsford, David Cafeteiro of Lowell, Stephen Cafeteiro and his partner Kelly Proctor, of Chelmsford, and Audrey Keenan and her husband Michael, of Lowell; her 7 grandchildren, Sarah Catineau and her partner Fred of Casselberry, Florida, Ryan Cafeteiro and his wife Natalie of Dracut, Amy Costello and her husband Tom of Dracut, Michael Cafeteiro and his wife Sue of Dracut, Christine Keenan of Littleton, Steven Cafeteiro of Lowell, Tori Cafeteiro and her partner Tyler of Chelmsford, as well as her daughter in law Jean Cafeteiro of Dracut and Delia Martinez of Lowell. Her 7 great grandchildren,  Nicholas, Andrew, Matthew, Landon, Carson, Maya, and Riley, her sister Catherine Miele, and brothers Albert and his wife Leslie Casey and Raymond Casey, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides her parents and husband, she was greeted in heaven by her son John Cafeteiro and grandson Adam Keenan. Her siblings, Rita Desjardin, James Casey, Mary Martin, Martha Shaw, Maurice Casey Jr. and William Casey. Her daughter in law Ruby Magee. Her sister and brother in law Elvira “Vera” and Donald “Joe” Longtin. Cousins Dorothy McCarthy and Helena McManus.

Her private funeral services were held from MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to The Adam Keenan Foundation, PO Box 9663, Lowell, MA 01853.
