Obituary

UPDATED:--Due to Covid we were not able to have a wake or funeral for Sam.  Now that we are able to, the visitation will be Friday June 25th, 2021 from 10:00 - 11:30 am at Oteri Funeral home in Franklin, MA.  Funeral to follow at 1:00 pm at the Bourne National Cemetery,  Bourne MA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Samuel (Sam) Catro of Franklin, MA passed away Saturday, January 16, 2021 from complications of Covid-19. He was 96 years old.

He was born in Bennington, VT, and came to Franklin at the age of 2. He graduated from Franklin High School in 1942.

He was the son of Nicholas Catro & Mary (Vince) Catro.

He is survived by his brother Louis Catro formerly of Franklin, MA, his niece Sheri Frabotta and her husband Tony and a great niece Skylar Catro all of Northbridge, MA. Former sister-in-law Thelma Catro of North Carolina. Cousins Antoinette Russell of New Hampshire, Joseph Vince of Vermont, Josephine Shepard of VT, Deborah Wilson of North Carolina, Janet Gambill of North Carolina, Mary Boylan of Florida and Vincent Boylan of Georgia.

Sam was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a 1st Sergeant and was Honorably Discharged. He was an avid reader and a dedicated volunteer of the Franklin Library and was a member of the Friends of Franklin Library. He was a bowler and on a league for many years.

He was employed by Stop & Shop Company until he retired after 38 years in 1987.
