Mrs. Roberta Florence Rodgers, 77, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, January 15, 2021 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Monday, January 18, 2021, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with Pastor Randy Holt and Pastor Richard Rhodes officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening, from 6 PM until 7 PM, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Rodgers was born December 15, 1943 in Fitzgerald Georgia, to the late Leroy Thompson & Nellie Foxworthy Thompson. She attended Higher Praise Apostolic Church. Mrs. Rodgers loved life and loved people. She enjoyed sharing her testimony of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Even in the midst of Alzheimer’s she never met a stranger. If you’ve ever been somewhere and was approached by a perfect stranger who talked to you and told you they loved you, it may have been her. She was sometimes well received and walked off with a big happy smile, but often she was misunderstood by those who have never been touched by this disease. Her family and friends encourage you to share a laugh, share a smile, share a hug when you meet someone like she was.
She is survived by her two daughters: Ramona Rhodes & Richard of Abbeville and Regina Holt & Randy of Fitzgerald; 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by Daniel Almodovar of Augusta, whom Mrs. Rodgers considered like a son. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Rodgers, a son, Jeffrey Lamar Rodgers, two brothers Leonard and Lawrence Thompson, and two sisters Mildred Cleghorn and Carrie Griffin.
