Obituary

WAYLAND: Darrell G. Simpson, died peacefully and comfortably on Monday, January 11, 2021 following a period of declining health.
He was born in Arlington the son of the late Robert C. Simpson, Sr. and Evelyn C. (Doherty) Simpson.
Darrell spent his formative years in Jamaica Plain and Roxbury and moved to Wayland in 1973 where he has remained until his death and was active in many affairs of the community.
Darrell had an impressive career as an Executive in the field of marketing and sales for many corporations including Teledyne, Dunn and Bradstreet, Squibb and his nationally known company, Darsimco, Inc., which he founded and operated in Framingham.
He was the brother of the late Robert C. Simpson, Jr., Walter E, Simpson and John T. Simpson. He was the uncle of Jeffrey, Michael, and Daryl Simpson and Donald and Deana Travers. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Diane Simpson, his cousins, The Gronbergs – Fred, Bob, Dan and Carol, as well countless friends and neighbors.
Darrell was active during his lifetime in numerous community programs which included St. Mary’s of the Angels in Roxbury, Saint Zepherin Parish in Wayland and the Arthritis Foundation. For many years, he was a prominent and devoted volunteer to the Voice of the Faithful.
He was very dedicated to assisting the poor, the homeless, the housebound and all who were in need. His ideas were always true to his personality, his constant smile and Irish humor and the stories he loved to share. He loved animals, especially his Labrador Retrievers Sam and Rufus, who were always at his side. He was a continual friend and a champion to all people in his life and those he would reach out to with a helping hand.
In lieu of flowers, Darrell would ask that you would be involved with your family, friends, neighbors and strangers and to always set an example by your good deeds and acts of kindness to all those you encounter.
Private family services will be held in the Simpson-Doherty family lot in Mount Benedict Cemetery in West Roxbury.
